It features a hefty, 4-inch-thick black walnut butcher block supported by elegant, turned pedestal legs. This walnut top will help you master all food prep chores, no matter the scale. Whether it’s rolling and kneading dough for holiday pies and cookies or merely laying out bread, cold cuts and condiments for sandwiches during half time, you’ll find it a pleasing and reliable surface. Standing 34.5” tall, the Walnut Rustica can be ordered in either 30”L x 24”W or 48”L x 24”W sizes.
End grain is renowned for its ability to absorb blows from knives and other kitchen sharps, yet show little if any signs of wear and tear. Balancing out this beast-beauty equilibrium is American Black Walnut. It’s a luscious blend of medium and dark browns. Add to that the fact that end style boards show off the beautifully intricate fibrous ends of the wood pieces that comprise the table's top and you have a veritable work of art. The checkered patterns they create are what give end-grain blocks their distinctive look. To protect this gorgeous surface, Boos applies a special blend of mineral oil and beeswax (Boos Board Cream) that drives moisture into the wood and locks it there by leaving a waxy barrier on the surface. Consider adding block oil and/or board cream to your shopping cart since you will need to re-oil your block every 4 weeks or so.
Finish options for the island’s base include a variety of solid paint colors and wood stains to match or complement any decor. So regardless whether you want a quiet piece that blends in or an accent piece to shake things up, you're sure to be pleased with your color options.
Choose a “with shelf” option in the “Size and Style” drop-down box and benefit from the instant gains in shelf space and beauty. Our bias at Butcher Block Co. is that a shelf on a table this lovely should only be used for storing exceptional cookware, china and the like, and only in moderation. The Rustica’s drawers (a single drawer in the case of the small size) on the other hand, are fair game for any kitchen tools, utensils and other supplies you’d like to keep handy, regardless of appearance. These drawers use dovetailed construction, making them extra resistant to breaking apart. The trick is interlocking pins and tails that tie the drawer’s sides to its front panel. Boos will either repair or replace a product determined to be damaged or defective. This warranty does not apply to damage resulting from normal wear and tear, accidents, abuse, neglect, misuse, alterations* or exposure to extreme conditions. Nor does it pertain to wood products ordered unfinished. Neither Boos nor Butcher Block Co. will be held liable for any loss or damage arising from use of products or for any consequential damages.
*Cutting into a Boos countertop (e.g., trimming its length or width or executing a miter cut or a cutout) will void the manufacturer's warranty.
Boos & Co. warrants that the exact length, width and thickness of any countertop will not vary from specifications by more than 1/8 of an inch.
If you decide to cancel your order, please call us immediately. Typically, we are able to cancel an order and issue a full refund if production of the item(s) has not yet begun. If an order is already “in production,” it cannot be canceled for any reason.
If you are unhappy with your purchase for any reason, you may return or exchange it within 30 days of the date of purchase. A 20% restocking fee will apply, since all John Boos products are made-to-order. Plus, you will be responsible for return shipping costs. Boos custom countertops cannot be returned or exchanged, unless the goods arrived in damaged condition and you wrote the word "Damaged" on the shipping receipt.
If you find the identical, brand-new product for less (including shipping & handling) on another website within 3 days of your purchase, email us the URL of the webpage where you found the lower-priced offer. If the online seller is an authorized John Boos dealer, we will refund the difference. Butcher Block Co. will not always be able to match a lower-priced offer (e.g., in cases where doing so would violate legal agreements between us and our manufacturer-partners) and any refund may be limited (e.g., in cases where the competing offer is below our total cost).
