Toward that end, we set out to develop sustainable alternative products for cleaning and refreshing, renewing and restoring, and preserving and protecting wood surfaces used for preparing and serving meals in homes and commercial kitchens.

Our all natural cleanser is truly a unique product. Unlike others, it is 100% plant based, vegan friendly, and safe to use on butcher block, wood cutting boards, countertops and culinary utensils. This low lather product cleans effectively, rinses easily and smells fresh indicating your board is washed and ready to be used again.
The key ingredients in BBCO. cutting board rejuvenating oil are Palm Fruit Oil (PFO)and Rice Bran Oil (RBO). PFO is extracted from the fleshy fruit of the African Oil Palm native to West Africa (Elaeis guineensis), and RBO is extracted from the outer bran or husks of rice grains. Used in combination, PFO and RBO help guard against moisture-loss by penetrating wood fibers and imparting a protective film across the treated wood surface. To top things off, a bit of Citrus Limon Peel Oil leaves behind a light and pleasant lemon scent that continuously signals freshness.

In combination, these two naturally-occurring oils not only moisturize, they preserve wood by providing a protective barrier that leaves a silky feel and look. Top-selling butcher block oils contain mineral oil, plus a wax – either carnauba wax or beeswax. While these products accomplish their intended purpose, they cannot be classified as sustainable. Mineral oil is not natural! It’s a petrochemical derived from the processing of crude oil. And as we all are now well-aware, crude-oil extraction poses long-term risks to our environment. In addition, we now know that petroleum refineries are a major source of hazardous and toxic air pollutants.
While bees wax is a true wonder of Nature, beeswax harvesting is a topic fraught with controversy, since anything less than best-practices honey harvesting can put at risk the overall health of the hive’s bee population.
