Durable and classically beautiful our BBCO. Tops add warmth and function to your kitchen. We offer these standard size tops in both traditional edge-grain style and in plank-style. Edge grain construction means all wood strips, approximately 1” wide, run the entire length of the countertop. The traditional butcher block style of edge grain is preferable as a cutting surface. Growing in popularity, plank-style tops are constructed of wood planks ranging 3" to 6" wide that run the full length of the tops. Plank-style is often chosen for island tops as it works beautifully for both rustic and contemporary décor styles.

While our business focuses on custom-size butcher block countertops and island tops, we wanted to make standard-size tops easily orderable in our top four selling species — Maple, Walnut, Hickory, and White Oak, respectively. These four species represent about two-thirds of all BBCO. custom countertop species sold.
BBCO. standard-size Maple butcher block tops are offered in the most popular countertop sizes and kitchen island top sizes, all in a 1.5" thickness. Standard-size lengths range from 48” to 96”, and widths range from 25” to 42”.
Butcher block is most notably chosen for kitchen island tops, to serve as a contrast to existing countertops materials, and making the island the focal point of the kitchen. So most of our standard sizes are offered for island tops and designed to match standard size kitchen island base cabinet configurations.

Choose the natural oil finish if you intend to cut on your butcher block top. Reapplication of oil is required. If you are looking for a maintenance free top consider Conversion Varnish finish. Both finishes are suitable for food contact.
