After you use your wood cutting board, take it to the sink, rinse off food waste and wash with Cleanser, moisturize by re-applying Oil, and finish with the Conditioner to help protect and seal-in moisture.
At Butcher Block Co. we want our care products to be classified as sustainable — products that are formulated responsibly to help protect and preserve our air, water, climate and/or planet. Toward that end, we set out to develop sustainable alternative products for cleaning and refreshing, renewing and restoring, and preserving and protecting wood surfaces used for preparing and serving meals in homes and commercial kitchens.
Our products are formulated with 100% plant-based ingredients. The Palm Fruit Oil base used on our oil and conditioner is RSPO Certified, guaranteeing the sustainability and traceability of the palm oil production throughout the supply chain. The RSPO has production standards for growers that set best practices for producing and sourcing palm oil.
Other top-selling butcher block oils contain mineral oil and often beeswax. While these products accomplish their intended purpose, they cannot be classified as sustainable. Mineral oil is not natural! It’s a petrochemical derived from the processing of crude oil, and crude-oil extraction poses long-term risks to our environment, in addition, petroleum refineries are a major source of hazardous and toxic air pollutants.
While bees wax is a true wonder of Nature, beeswax harvesting is a topic fraught with controversy, since anything less than best-practices honey harvesting can put at risk the overall health of the hive’s bee population.
