Authentic chopping blocks, including these beautiful, round creations from Catskill, feature end-grain style butcher block. In making these butcher’s boards, craftsmen cut solid hardwood into shor strips, stand the strips upright and bond them together using adhesive, heat and pressure. So the top ends (hence, the name) of these sawed pieces form the cutting surface, which is distinct visually and functionally. The look of an end-grain block is checkerboard-like, revealing interesting variations in color and grain patterns. Looking at any individual cut end, you will see a very small, rectangular sliver of the growth rings within a slice of the tree that produced it. - growth rings. Not only is the cutting surface visually intriguing, it’s noticeably resilient as well. The wood fibers of these cut ends are perfect for absorbing blows from sharp blades without prematurely dulling them.
The last thing you want is for an exquisite butcher block board to sit on a wet countertop for any length of time. This can cause it to wick up moisture and suffer damage as a result. You can avoid that risk altogether thanks to the wooden feet that keep this beautiful board off the table. Protecting the feet themselves are non-stick, rubber pads.
The larger size is 15 3/8" in diameter and 3" thick, and the smaller is 14" across and 2.75" thick. All Catskill slabs are treated at the mill with a penetrating oil finish that helps protect the wood. It must be replenished about monthly, so consider adding Catskill’s Original Butcher Block Oil to your order.

Catskill will either repair or replace any product it determines to be defective in either material or workmanship. Such repairs or replacements will be made by Catskill Craftsmen, Inc. or anyone the company authorizes, at no charge to the Purchaser. Excluded are damages arising from normal use, accidents, neglect or unauthorized repair. Nor does the company warrant wood or metal finishes to be perfectly free of scratches, blemishes or variations in color or finish.
If you change your mind within 30 days and wish to return your purchase, you are entitled to a refund (purchase price less a 20% restocking fee). Merchandise returned must be in saleable condition, unassembled in original packaging and shipped insured via UPS. Be sure to contact us before returning any merchandise.
